Books or TV
Reading books is better than watching TV.
What do you think about this idea? Write to convince a reader
of your opinions.
TV, an endless , inspiring source of knowledge, or a book, which lacks the capabilities of a TV. Good morning gentlemen, my name is Tom Spencer and by the end of this speech you will be entirely convinced of the fact that TV is better than an old book.
The first point I am going to raise is that of the attention span of a child, young or old. Though the attention span is longer as you grow, people do not get bored of TV. For example, when doing bookwork in a class, lets say history, people start to daydream, look out the windows and stop focusing. As soon as a video is put on, everybody's' faces light up and the become engrossed in the screen.
The study time suggested for a year 7-9 student is roughly 45 minutes then a break, though with using a TV, kids can stay focused longer and retain more, as the saying goes, 'a picture is worth 1000 words'. Kids remember more visual images than words because it sticks in their head.
Another up to the TV's is that they are endless and therefore more economically beneficial. You may start with a higher price for a TV compared to school books, but you don't need to keep buying new ones each year when you finish a topic. A TV is reusable for each year.
Because TV's are reusable, they are also more environmentally friendly as trees do not need to be cut down to make the. The majority of the parts of a TV are recycled and therefore when a new one needs to be bought, it doesn't harm the environment as much as chopping down a tree for pages.
I hope you now see the many positives TV's have to offer and how much better the world would be if we had them over books.
